Brownwood’s Veterans Day program will be on Tuesday, November 11 at 11 AM at the Central Texas Veterans Memorial. Dr. Todd Gray, Captain United States Air Force and Pastor of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church, will be the master of ceremonies. Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes will speak. There will be a dedication of two plaques honoring two decorated Brownwood veterans. The first veteran is Roy Eldon White, who was on the first United States Navy ship sunk by the Germans in World War I. He went on to play professional football for the Chicago Bears. The second plaque honors Lieutenant Colonel John Spearman Palmer, who served with the 36th Infantry Division, Texas National Guard, in the disastrous Rapido River Campaign in Italy in World War II. All are welcome.
