Apparent murder-suicide under investigation in Beverly; man and woman found dead in home

A man and a woman were fatally shot Monday night in Beverly in an apparent murder-suicide, authorities said.

“An adult female and an adult male with apparent gunshot wounds were pronounced deceased on scene inside a home on Colonial Road in Beverly late Monday night,” Essex District Attorney Paul F. Tucker’s office said in a statement.

Police were called around 9:40 p.m. to the home. The deaths “are being viewed by investigators as an apparent murder-suicide,” officials said.

The case is under investigation, and there’s “no greater threat to the public in relation to this incident,” officials said.

Officials withheld the names of the pair pending family notification.
