A 58-year-old Enumclaw woman died after a tree struck her vehicle going eastbound on Highway 410 north of Mount Rainier Tuesday evening, according to Washington State Patrol.

The woman was driving a 2014 silver Subaru XV Crosstrek west of Crystal River Ranch around 8 p.m. when her vehicle was hit by the large falling tree, an incident report states.

The woman was wearing her seat belt.

The vehicle was totaled and came to a rest 50 feet from the crash. The road was closed for over three hours after the accident.

State Patrol listed the weather as a contributing factor. Maddie Kristell, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Seattle, said conditions in and around Enumclaw were breezy Tuesday night, with privately owned weather stations clocking 27 mph winds around the time of
