LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- On the morning of Nov. 5, more than 196,000 eligible households in Nevada received partial SNAP benefits despite the continued government shutdown.
The Trump administration announced earlier in the week that SNAP would be partially funded for November following two judges' orders to use an emergency fund to keep aid flowing.
The updated federal guidance, in light of the shutdown, which began on Oct. 1, revised eligibility requirements. Recipients will receive between zero and 50% of their normal benefit amount, depending on household income.
A release from Nevada officials said that households with no income will receive 50% of their previously approved benefits, while households with greater income will receive a smaller percentage or even no benefit.
