HONEA PATH, S.C. (WBTV) - One person died after a 100-year-old house caught fire early Wednesday in South Carolina.

Sister-station reported that the blaze broke out at the corner of and Princeton Highway in Anderson County around 3:15 a.m. on Nov. 5.

A man was able to get out; however, a woman died. Her name was not immediately released.

Video taken by WHNS showed the home burned essentially to the ground, leaving nothing but two chimneys standing.

Firefighters were there for hours Wednesday morning working to control the flames and extinguish any hotspots.

It was not immediately clear what caused the blaze; however, the Anderson County fire chief urged the community to be careful heating their homes, and to make sure they have working smoke detectors.
