ATLANTA — Atlanta's City Council this week took a step to advance an ambitious pedestrianization project ongoing in Buckhead.
The council voted to accept another $1.7 million in funding for the Lenox Road Complete Safe Street project . That's in addition to an earlier, roughly $8.6 million bloc of federal funding via GDOT.
The city also plans to contribute about $2.1 million for its share of the project.
"What's really great about the Lenox Road project is how many partners we have putting resources into it," said Buckhead Coalition President and Buckhead Community Improvement District Executive Director Jim Durrett. "We're getting a little bit from everybody in order to create something fantastic for everybody."
The project is a multiuse walking/bike trail that extends along Lenox
