ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A southwest Atlanta neighborhood is rallying around families who lost everything in an apartment fire.
Families rushed to escape as flames tore through their building early Thursday morning at the Abby Ridge Apartments on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
“The flames, the fire just started bursting. Flames are going higher, higher and higher,” said Delano Ashford, a witness.
Rideshare driver Delano Ashford was dropping off a passenger when he spotted the fire and smoke pouring out of the building.
“I told my passenger to roll down the window. She rolled down the window and she was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s a big fire,’” Ashford said.
