LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating an officer involved shooting that happened in Lexington County, say SLED agents.
Agents say on Tuesday, November 4, officers with the Batesburg – Leesville Police Department were called to Enmarket gas station on West Columbia Avenue for a robbery.
When the initial officer arrived to the gas station, he entered the store after seeing the person taking money from the register, says SLED.
The person is accused of taking the officer’s taser and using it against the officer during a physical altercation.
Also, the person is accused of trying to take possession of the officer’s gun, and during the encounter the gun discharged.
No one was hit by gunfire.
