AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — FCA US LLC has issued a recall for more than 320,000 Jeep plug-in hybrid SUVs in the U.S. following an internal investigation that uncovered a potential fire risk linked to the vehicles’ battery systems.
The recall includes certain model-year 2020–2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and 2022–2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe models, the automaker said. A review of customer data led to the discovery of 19 vehicle fires that prompted the company to take precautionary measures.
Owners of the affected SUVs are advised not to recharge their vehicles until a fix is available, as the risk of fire is lower when the battery’s charge is depleted. FCA is also recommending that customers park their vehicles away from buildings and other cars until repairs can be made.
