LUBBOCK, Texas -- Charges against Daniel Diaz-Gonzalez, 42, a civilian Lubbock Police Department employee, were dismissed on October 30, court records showed. LPD released a video of the incident on Wednesday.
Back in August, LPD announced Diaz-Gonzalez was involved in an altercation with a sex offender during a routine check-in back in July. Diaz-Gonzalez was engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim, Steven Sardinta, 67. Videos released by police on Wednesday showed the two exchanging heated words multiple times before the altercation became physical when Diaz-Gonzalez pushed Sardinta to the ground. Diaz-Gonzalez was initially charged with assaulting an elderly person.
