BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — A court hearing was held on Wednesday regarding Kohberger’s objection to the state’s request for additional restitution. Kohberger himself was not present.
The plea agreement specified funeral expenses and funds reimbursed through Idaho’s Crime Victim Compensation Fund, totaling $28,956.88. The state requests restitution for additional funeral expenses, specifically urns for the families.
Elisa Massoth, Kohberger’s attorney, says Kohberger cannot pay restitution because he is serving four consecutive life sentences plus 10 years, and the reimbursement for the urns, totaling $3,075.58, must first be analyzed by a court under Idaho code to determine Kohberger’s ability to pay.
