TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Officials are warning residents and businesses about a new scam, according to the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office.
Scammers are calling residents while posing as deputies, including the name Lt. Daron Brown , and threatening 21 days in jail if not paid immediately. Unfortunately, $2500 has been sent to a scammer already.
The Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office says it will never call to demand payment over the phone. Court matters are handled in person, and deputies say they rarely encounter someone who is unaware of an arrest warrant.
The office has seen fake court documents, callers posing as phone or internet officials and fake case numbers. It’s reminded to not give any info, money or gift cards to anyone, hang up and call SIRCOMM Dispatch at 20
