TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Twin Falls Police Department is observing Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month with special significance as they remember Lt. John Wilson, who died from the disease in 2021.
Throughout November, the department is reflecting on Wilson’s contributions to the team. Lt. Steven Gassert said Wilson was known for his positive attitude and extensive knowledge of sports.
Officers are wearing purple ribbons during the month, and patrol cars display #183, representing Wilson’s badge number.
“His diagnosis came on sudden and unexpected,” Gassert said. “It’s one that we encourage people to have that conversation with their doctors and to try and take preventative measures to recognize it.”
