Former Hamilton city councillor and NDP MP Matthew Green is taking on a new role with the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU).
As a political and communications specialist with ATU Canada, Green said he’ll advocate for public transit and working-class people — both priorities during his decade in elected office, he said.
The role, which ATU announced Tuesday, will see Green provide "advice on issues affecting members" and work with union locals across Canada.
The ATU represents 200,000 transit workers in Canada and the United States.
Green will stay in Hamilton, where he said he was happy to return full-time after losing reelection as Hamilton-Centre MP to Liberal Aslam Rana in April.
In an interview with CBC Hamilton, Green discussed his new job, life after politics and his thoughts
