CROSS CITY, Fla. (WCJB) - Dixie County Sheriff’s officials are adopting technology that is already being used in other parts of North Central Florida.
Deputies say they’ve installed Flock Safety cameras at select locations throughout the county to improve public safety and help with criminal investigations.
Purchased with a law enforcement grant, these cameras automatically read license plates and can help find missing people or vehicles of interest.
The Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office also uses the Flock license plate reading system, while Columbia County Sheriff’s Deputies and Lake City Police use the Flock gunshot detection system.
