WEBSTER SPRINGS, W.Va. (WBOY) — School officials in Webster County have announced that a case of whooping cough has been confirmed in an individual at a local school, marking the second such case in West Virginia in the past week.
According to a press release put out on Wednesday by the Webster County Board of Education, an individual at Webster Springs Elementary School was diagnosed with the condition. After being notified, school officials said that they immediately began working with other agencies to address the situation.
"We are working closely with these public health officials to take all necessary steps to protect the health and safety of our students, staff, and families," Webster County Schools Superintendent Joseph Arbogast said.
