TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The police department in Clay City will be downsized from a two full-time officer force to a single full-time town marshal.
This was announced during a recent public town hall meeting. The town council members say that while the city is facing tough financial times, the goal is to keep the public safe, and they will not be completely shutting down the department.
Darin Carlson is a resident of Clay City who attended the public town hall meeting, and he mentioned that even though this is a tough decision for the city to make, he knows this is the right thing to do going forward for now.
