Nashville police are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian Nov. 4 on Lafayette Street near Fairfield Avenue.

Police have not identified the man, believed to be a 62-year-old Nashvillian, as they work to notify his family.

The man was crossing Lafayette Street just before 10 p.m. Nov. 4 when he was hit by a vehicle headed eastbound in a 2024 Toyota Camry, investigators said.

The driver stayed on scene and told police they were unable to avoid the man as he crossed.

Police said the victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died.

No charges will be filed against the driver because it was determined the crash occurred outside the crosswalk, police said.
