Vanderbilt linebacker Bryan Longwell proved last year he has a long memory when it comes to feeling disrespected on the recruiting trail.
The No. 15 Commodores (7-2, 3-2) probably wouldn’t mind him dipping back into that emotional pool Saturday at 3 p.m. CT (SEC Network) when Vandy hosts Auburn (4-5, 1-5) at FirstBank Stadium.
Auburn, after all, was the school that delivered what Longwell took as a snub three years ago, when an unnamed Tigers assistant coach sent a Christmas morning text to Longwell stating, “Bryan, I’m sorry buddy we’re not going to sign a HS LB in this class more than likely. You’re a great player with a great future! Hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas!”
The Tigers had at one point offered a scholarship to Longwell, according to his Vanderbilt bio.
