He’s been cooking this up for two decades.
A Long Island pizza maker kept track of each pie sold since opening in early 2005 — and gave away a year’s worth to the customer who bought No. 1 million on Saturday.
“We sold 56 pizzas on the first day of opening, so I wrote it down as a nostalgic thing to look back at, but I kept writing it down as the years went by,” Jonny Dawson, owner of Jonny D’s in Huntington Station, told The Post.
“Then, a few weeks ago, I realized we were approaching one million and thought, ‘let’s have a little fun with this.'”
Dawson and his staff leaned into the pie phenomenon and announced a contest on social media: the person who bought all or a slice of the one millionth pie would win a pizza a week through November 2026.
