LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Today is National Donut Day, and we spent the morning at a Lake Charles bakery learning how to make some glazed goodness.

Brother and sister Paula Stevens and Lukas Verret, owners of Delicious Donuts and Bakery, have been in the donut-making business for 40-plus years, and it all started the same way it keeps going: family.

“I actually started so that I would be able to adopt. And I mean, you know, when you’re young, it sounds like a good idea to start a business to make more money. And so I’ve been blessed with five beautiful children. Some are adopted and some are not. And love making donuts and making everybody’s day happy and starting off sweet. It’s a good way to start the day,” Stevens said.
