ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Many food banks across Metro Atlanta are now desperately asking for more food donations so they can keep helping families as the need increases during the federal government shutdown.
It was busy inside of the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam on Wednesday with a line of cars waiting for the food pantry.
“This is what we do, we feed about 240 people,” Suad Sabree, the Enough to Share volunteer coordinator, said.
Food drives are a regular event for the volunteer-led food pantry at the mosque, where they feed hundreds of people every month.
But right now, there’s a bigger need as the government shutdown has impacted SNAP benefits and the families who depend on them.
“We are expecting people but before the SNAP we still had people coming in,” Sabree said. “So
