COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The race for Columbia’s at-large city council seat is headed to a runoff after neither candidate secured more than 50% of the vote in Tuesday’s municipal election.
According to unofficial results, incumbent Aditi Bussells and challenger Sam Johnson will face off again in a runoff election scheduled for November 18.
Johnson, who finished election night with just over 47% of the vote, held a lead of more than 600 votes over Bussells. He says that the margin shows voters are ready for change — particularly when it comes to public safety and city services.
