Leaders from Tennessee's Department of Safety and Homeland Security met with Governor Bill Lee on Wednesday to discuss future facilities for Chattanooga and Knoxville.
Homeland Security officials spoke about several topics, ranging from troopers requesting salaries increases, to a reduction in fatal crashes in 2025.
One of their major requests was for stand alone trooper facilities in Chattanooga and Knoxville.
State officials say troopers in our area and in Knoxville currently share spaces with the Tennessee Department of Transportation but those are too small for them to properly operate.
Homeland Security officials are now asking for $774,000 in funding for new locations for the troopers in the two cities.
