BOSTON —
A raid by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at a car wash in Boston's Allston neighborhood led to the arrest of nine people.
The raid happened Tuesday at the Allston Car Wash on Cambridge Street. The business reopened Wednesday, but with a sign warning of reduced hours.
"They weren't trying to let anybody leave, not even customers," said witness Steve Garces, who works across the street. "They were all crying. There were two daughters that ended up seeing their mother get taken away. So after that, it was just kind of chaotic. Everybody was just very frightened, afraid."
"I would say it's pretty close to the definition of kidnapping," City Councilor Liz Breadon said.
