Gov. Elect Mikie Sherrill now has another big decision to navigate — her replacement in the U.S. House of Representatives.
“So we’ll be working with the leadership in the House, as well as our legislature here, to, as smoothly as possible, run the special election to get a new person in that seat,” she said Wednesday. “I likely won’t be getting involved. There are some great candidates in there.”
The special election comes after Sherrill’s comfortable win over Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli, who ran his third campaign for governor.
Ciattarelli focused his campaign on tying Sherrill to Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy , while Sherrill linked Ciattarelli to President Donald Trump’s policies.
