CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - West Virginia just submitted its application for the federal Rural Health Transformation Program to transform health care for rural West Virginians.

“This is a unique opportunity and something we are going to be doing right,” Gov. Patrick Morrisey said.

He said, if approved, the Rural Health Transformation could provide $100 million per year for five years to rural health care in West Virginia through the Big Beautiful Bill.

“By submitting a Rural Health Transformation Application, we have a chance to truly engage in innovative and generational change for our citizens,” Morrisey said.

The governor said the application focuses on seven key areas:

- Connected Care Grid: Build the infrastructure to bring virtual and in-person care access to people on-demand.
