ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The federal government shutdown has entered its 36th day, officially making it the longest in U.S. history, and the impact across Georgia is growing.

Furloughed federal workers, SNAP recipients and military families remain in limbo as Congress remains deadlocked over how to reopen the government.

Now, Georgia’s state lawmakers are pointing fingers at Congress and at each other.

In a letter to Democratic U.S. Sens. Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, Republican leaders in the Georgia General Assembly accused the senators of “hurting Georgians” by refusing to vote yes on a plan to reopen the government.
