An Indian man was assaulted at an eatery by an allegedly drunk Canadian man in Toronto. A video of the incident went viral on social media, raising concerns over rising xenophobia in the country.

According to a report published by The Times of India, a widely circulated video clip shows a man wearing a blue jacket attacking an Indian-origin man in a cafe.

In the footage, it is clearly seen that the Indian-origin man did not provoke him. The Canadian man threw the victim’s phone under a table, prompting him to pick it up. The Canadian man can be heard saying, “What did you just say to me?”

The victim responded by saying that he might get into trouble.

Soon, the cafe staff intervened and urged them to “take it outside.” The aggressor then left the premises.
