GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Gainesville police officers are increasing their use of surveillance photos and videos during their investigations, and they’re utilizing the help of residents.
GPD officers say when they post surveillance photos on social media, it’s common that someone recognizes the suspect.
“A picture doesn’t lie,” shared Art Forgey, Public Information Officer of GPD.
35-year-old Travis Lee is accused of using a stolen debit card at four locations on Saturday, including at a Publix on NW 13th Street in Gainesville.
Within six hours of officers posting his photo to Facebook, he was in the Alachua County Jail.
“You know, I don’t want to say our track record is 100% but we’re pretty dang close in getting the public’s assistance to help us identify folks,” said Forgey.
