ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Residents living in the tornado-stricken areas of St. Louis will now wait longer for help clearing debris from private property.
On Tuesday, Mayor Cara Spencer said the process to create a “right of entry” procedure is taking longer than anticipated.
“A right of entry is required for each and every one of those private properties that has debris on it, that’s a very complex project in and of itself,” she said.
Once established, the process will allow the city, with permission from the property owner, to step foot on a private property to assess damages and ultimately demolish any damaged structure.
The large scale clean-up was originally supposed to begin in November, but delays with the right of entry process and reliance on funding from FEMA has delay
