Fayetteville, Ark. (KNWA/KTFA) — The state now ranks 47th out of 51 nationwide for new cancer cases, according to a new report from the American Lung Association.

The "State of Lung Cancer" report, published Tuesday, explains key lung cancer indicators by state. The association said the indicators examined were new cases of lung cancer, survival, early diagnosis, surgical treatment, lack of treatment, screening rates and insurance coverage of comprehensive biomarker testing.

According to the report, Arkansas has 68.2 cases per 100,000 people and the national average rate of new cases is 52.8 cases per 100,000 people.
