WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) - A large group of people protesting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) gathered in Williamsburg Wednesday evening.

The event was put together by the Williamsburg Area Chapter of Virginia Organizing and took place on Richmond Road.

Residents and William and Mary students came together to protest the increase in ICE activity in the Williamsburg area.

The organization stated that there have been several community members detained in recent months, and the chapter is using this protest as a way to stand in solidarity with local immigrants.
