NIAGARA, Wis. (WBAY) - The Wisconsin Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating after an officer-involved death in Niagara on Wednesday.

The DOJ says that just after 1 p.m. on Wednesday, a Niagara police officer attempted a traffic stop. The person fled the scene and swerved into oncoming traffic in the 1000 block of Main Street, hitting a commercial vehicle.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene. Nobody else was hurt.

The DCI is investigating the incident with assistance from the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, Niagara Rescue, and the Niagara Fire Department, and the results will be given to the Marinette County District Attorney’s Office.
