ROSLYN, Wash. – The Roslyn Fire Department (RFD) announced that Upper Kittitas County fire crews will conduct a prescribed fire on Thursday. The burning will take place above both C Street and D Street.
To protect the community from potential threats, crews have set up temporary fencing in case of rolling debris and will use a hose lay around the piles.
Officials noted that the burning piles will be "widely visible" through Thursday night. Smoke is expected to linger into Friday morning, with flames possibly visible into the weekend.
"This burn is part of the on-going hazardous fuels reduction to better protect Roslyn in the event of wildfire," RFD officials stated.
The burn has received approval from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.
