GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) - Second Harvest Food Bank received a $40,000 donation after local philanthropist Scott Niswonger matched the funds raised by Greene County for food distribution at the Greene County Fairgrounds on Wednesday evening.
Mayor Kevin Morrison said he had reached out to Niswonger, asking if he would consider donating some money to Second Harvest leading up to Wednesday's distribution.
"Scott's a very good friend of mine, and he's very philanthropically-minded," Morrison said. "Through philanthropy, Mr. Niswonger's generosity, and our contribution locally from the government, we basically paid for this event. We may have to do this again. Our contributions, we have found, returned to us about three times the amount that we actually contribute, and it's mostly helping
