MAINE, USA — Northern Light Health and Anthem have reached a new agreement restoring in-network coverage for tens of thousands of Mainers.

The organizations put out a joint statement Wednesday night, announcing contract talks had come to an end after months of failed negotiations.

The deal comes just days after a temporary contract extension expired Friday, which had left about 30,000 Anthem members out of network for Northern Light doctors and non-hospital facilities. Northern Light had said it would not bill affected patients while negotiations continued.

The new multi-year agreement ensures Anthem members will maintain in-network access to all Northern Light hospitals, clinics, and providers, according to the announcement. That includes patients covered by employer-sponsored, indiv
