FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Northeast Indiana veterans on Honor Flight 54 visited Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.
Passengers gathered at American Legion Post 241 in the morning to enjoy breakfast and an opening ceremony, followed by prayer before take-off from the Summit City.
The veterans landed at Reagan Airport Wednesday morning. The flight welcomed 86 veterans from the following:
Korean War – 3 veterans
Cold War – 11 veterans
Vietnam War – 72 veterans
Among the honored veterans on this flight, four were awarded Purple Hearts and others received two Bronze Stars.
Veterans and guardians spent the full day in Washington, D.C., visiting war memorials built to honor their service and sacrifice.
