AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) - Augusta’s tourism leaders are celebrating another year of growth and momentum across the city’s economy. Destination Augusta hosted the annual State of Tourism event Wednesday afternoon at the Marriott Convention Center, highlighting the people, stories, and industries that help the city thrive.

From the Masters Tournament to the arts to local sports, Augusta continues to attract visitors from all over the country.

“They’re eating and dining at our restaurants and bars. They’re shopping in local restaurants,” said Jennifer Bowen with Destination Augusta.

“And so all of that money helps to employ people in the area and it helps towards our quality of life.”

In 2024 alone, visitor spending generated nearly $890 million in the local economy—including spending on food
