"Severe weather" has knocked out power to thousands of residents in North Jersey on the evening on Nov. 5, including over 6,000 in Sussex and Morris counties.
The National Weather Service had issued a wind advisory from 9 p.m. on Nov. 5 until 8 a.m. on Nov. 6, with gusts up to 50 mph.
As of 11:45 p.m., the JCP&L outage map was reporting nearly 14,000 customers statewide without power, including almost 4,000 in Sussex County and just over 2,500 in Morris County. Warren County also had nearly 3,000 in the dark.
"We are aware severe weather is causing power outages in your area. Estimated restoration times will be available once crews assess damage," JCP&L posted on its map for many Sussex-Morris outages.
