As the federal government shutdown stretches into its 38th day, airlines are scaling back operations at Newark Liberty International Airport and other major hubs under an emergency order issued by the Federal Aviation Administration.
At Newark Liberty, one of the nation’s busiest airports, at least 69 flights were canceled and more than 25 were delayed in the past 24 hours, according to data from FlightAware. The disruptions have affected routes to major destinations including Boston, Montreal, Miami, and Toronto raising concerns ahead of the busy Thanksgiving travel period.
