BLOOMINGTON — Indiana athletic director Scott Dolson stopped by the basketball team's locker room after a 98-51 win over Alabama A&M on Wednesday night.
He was there to celebrate new coach Darian Devries picking up a victory in his debut as the 31st coach in program history and give him a specially designed game ball to mark the occasion.
"This is a special night," Dolson told the team . "This is to celebrate coach DeVries first victory, it's the largest margin of victory for any first time coach in IU history."
DeVries kicked started his head coaching career with a successful stint at Drake from 2018-24. He took the Bulldogs to the NCAA Tournament in four of his six seasons at the school and won at least 20 games every year.
