Several North Jersey residents who booked a recent cruise to the Caribbean found themselves in chilly Maine instead — along with their shorts and other warm weather clothes.

Passengers who climbed aboard the Norwegian Cruise Line ship "Norwegian Escape" say their itinerary was changed at the very last minute for their late September cruise — in some cases as they were boarding — with little notice, recourse or explanation.

The actions taken by Norwegian Cruise Line were legal, according to travel experts.

But one travel advisor said better communication and customer service from Norwegian Cruise Line would have been more helpful for the passengers, who in some cases paid thousands of dollars for their tickets.
