WILLARD, Mo. (KY3) - Willard has added new cameras aimed at increasing public safety.
However, the Flock Safety cameras come with controversy. Some call the license plate readers an invasion of privacy.
But in Willard, law enforcement says the program is already making a difference.
“They have them in Springfield. I know they have them in Branson and parts of St. Louis,” said Dawn Freemyer.
She says she’s heard about the Flock Safety camera program in other towns and believes that the license plate readers could be beneficial for Willard.
“I don’t think they have enough officers in Willard, so probably the more cameras they have, the better,” she said.
