WASHINGTON — Del. Carrie Coyner, the Virginia Republican who revealed violent texts sent to her by Jay Jones, has conceded her reelection battle to Democrat Lindsey Dougherty after shaking up races statewide.
Meanwhile, Jones, who some pollsters and political scientists projected would lose his bid for attorney general as a result of the texts to Coyner from 2022, in which he fantasizes about "putting two bullets to the head" of a former Republican leader and about wanting to "piss on the graves" of other House of Delegates colleagues, ended up defeating incumbent Republican Jason Miyares.
"Jay ... Please stop," Coyner can be seen responding to Jones.
On Tuesday night, Coyner wrote that she would no longer serve in elected office after three terms in the House of Delegates.
