WASHINGTON, D.C. (WSMV) - Multiple airports will be reducing their flight volumes as the government shutdown continues to put a strain on air travel.
Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy and Federal Aviation Administrator Bryan Bedford announced on Wednesday that due to a severe shortage of air traffic controllers, flights at 40 airports will be reduced by 10%.
“We have seen staffing pressures throughout our airspace,” Sec. Duffy explained. “We’ve had more delays. We’ve had more cancellations. We do not want to see disruptions at the FAA or here at the DOT. Our No. 1 priority is to make sure that when you travel, you travel safely.”
