The short animated film “ Deskaheh” is many things.

It is an important slice of often-forgotten history that chronicles Haudenosaunee leader Levi General’s attempts to sway the forerunner to the United Nations to free his people.

It is a visually stunning 12-minute animated film that recently won awards at the BIPOC PoP Film Festival in Austin, Texas, and the Quetzalcoatl Indigenous International Film Festival in Oaxaca, Mexico.
