EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Evansville Police Officer Sam Taylor shared a powerful update months after being shot in the line of duty.

In a post on his own social media page Wednesday, Officer Taylor thanked the community for the "unreal support" that keeps him going.

He revealed he has a T3 spinal cord injury, which means he has no feeling or movement from the chest down.

Despite the severity of his injury, Taylor says he is still in the early stages of recovery and holds hope that sensation and movement may return.

He acknowledged the injury is life-changing but adds that, all things considered, he is grateful to still be here for his family and his community.

Officer Taylor and his family will remain in rehab in Atlanta through January.
