GOOCHLAND, Va. (WWBT) - CarMax’s Chief Executive Officer Bill Nash is stepping down this month.

The company says David McCreight, the current chair of the company’s Board of Directors, “and proven retail business leader and brand strategist,” will be the interim president and CEO.

CarMax, which is headquartered in Goochland County, says its third quarter outlook shows a “comparable store used unit sales decrease of 8%-12%.”

In addition to the change at CEO, Tom Folliard, an executive with a 30-year history with CarMax, will be the interim executive chair of the Board of Directors.

Folliard was CarMax’s CEO from 2006 to 2016.

The company recently announced hundreds of layoffs around the U.S., which included about 25 positions in the Richmond area.
