WASHINGTON COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — An Alabama man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly leading police on a high-speed pursuit in Washington County, Virginia.

According to a news release from the Washington County, Virginia Sheriff's Office (WCSO), a Honda Accord was traveling at 107 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone near Exit 29 on Interstate 81 around 11 a.m.

The Honda reportedly exited I-81 at Exit 32 and caused damage to several pasture fences. The driver, identified by police as Muhammad Camara, 20, of Homewood, Alabama, then attempted to re-enter I-81 but crashed.

Camara fled the scene on foot, ran across multiple lanes of traffic on I-81 and jumped fences in an attempt to escape, the WCSO reported.
